Shimekazari are rice straw rope decorations hung up inside and outside Japanese homes to welcome  "Toshigami" a New Year's god that is said to bestow fortune for the new year.

Just before the new year I visited a wonderful exhibition "Shimekazari: Swirling Wisdom, Future Folk Implements" showing a collection of Shimekazari, this collection is carefully collected for over 20 years from all over Japan.

A Shimekazari Ring handmade ornament with the original Exhibition brochure will be part of the WA Winter Box.
